HISTORY LESSON: The first Continental Congress, while partially established to deal with the unruliness of the people of Boston, also sought to solve another issue the people had with the mother country - taxes. England levied all sorts of taxes on its colonies, like the Stamp Act, the Sugar Act, and the Tea Act, and though some of these were repealed and others amended, the British desperately needed to pay have the colonies help pay for their defense to rise themselves out of debt from the French and Indian War.
And so we finally meet our long haired friend - John Jay, a lawyer from New York and the first official Supreme Court Justice, attended the Congress to support the Galloway plan, which ultimately decided to extend a petition of peace towards Britain so long as they stopped imposing the taxes.
JAY TREATY! Woooo (Well, not woo sense the treaty was not successful for the United States, but ignore that!)!!! As someone who is currently taking U.S. history (and rocking its socks off, btw ;P) this comic is amazing.... and I feel *brilliant* every time I'm able to accurately guess a historical figure and event xD
